SECURITIES AND BUSINESS LAW EXPERIENCE

Concentrating his law practice in FINRA arbitration and securities fraud litigation, Peter Spett represents individuals and institutions in claims against stock brokers, brokerage firms, financial advisors, hedge funds, and other investment companies. He also represents clients in business and commercial disputes before federal and state courts in Florida and New York. During his career, Mr. Spett has litigated many arbitrations and court cases to successful resolution, and has extensive experience in arbitration before the Financial Industry Regulatory Association.

The Law Office of Peter M. Spett was originally established in 2003 in New York, NY. In 2011, Mr. Spett relocated his law practice from New York City to Boca Raton, FL, primarily dedicating his practice to clients with investment loss and securities fraud claims. Prior to founding his law practice in New York City in 2003, Mr. Spett was in-house litigation counsel for CIBC Oppenheimer for three years defending the company and its employees in FINRA, NASD, NYSE, SEC and court matters. Before he joined CIBC Oppenheimer, he was an associate at the white-collar criminal and civil litigation firm of Morvillo, Abramowitz, Grand, Iason and Silberberg, P.C., handling financial and intellectual property cases. Mr. Spett began his career at the Wall Street law firm of Cahill, Gordon & Reindel, LLP, where he represented Fortune 500 companies in high-stakes lawsuits across the United States.

Mr. Spett graduated from Columbia College magna cum laude with a bachelor's degree in Political Science and received his law degree from Columbia Law School, where he graduated with honors and was a finalist in the Harlan Fiske Stone moot court competition.

An active member in the Public Investors Arbitration Bar Association (PIABA), the Palm Beach County Bar Association (where he serves on the Securities Law Committee) and the South Palm Beach Bar Association, Mr. Spett also currently enjoys his involvement with the Jewish Federation of South Palm Beach County.
